Trust in the music

21 04 2008

I learned so much from this past weekend about dancing its pretty insane.
There’s a few things I need to start changing about my dance to really improve that I could only learn from losing.

First and foremost, like what the judges said: Listen to the music.

2nd, Dance to them music.

So simple right, but you take 98% of the lockers out there and we do everything else besides these 2 things. I first thought of moves to use, and when to groove and when to be technical when all along i should have just danced and those techniques will just come.

Obviously of course, I couldn’t do this a year ago when I’d rush the beat and make simple moves sloppy, but what Suga Pop taught me personally was to “keep it simple and take out rather than include more.”

Here’s my theme going foward when i lock now:

1. Listen to music and relax
2. Groove whole time and have fun (its dancing, should be fun)
3. Add technique but never lose the groove and dance
4. Lock

after I can fit those in the “pocket” of my dance, then i can start branching out with level changes, pace changes and last but not least, cool tricks.

I already have everything after practicing so many years, but in order to get to the next high end levels of my dance, I really need to trust in myself that these things will just come out if I can just relax and feel the music first.

Easier said than done, trust me. But i figure if put this in writing it’ll stick.

My new Jamba flavor

10 04 2008

My diet plan (eating healthier, working out, running) has been going on for a bout 3 weeks now and while doing research on the web, I found this little thing about healthy alternatives to food we usually eat.

In this case, I love going to Jamba Juice – Orange Dream Machine 16 ounce no boost for me.

However, most of what that is, is really the orange sherbet and frozen yogurt, there isnt even any fruit in this!! hahaha

But, if you check out their “All Fruit” section, all they use is fruit, juice, and ice, no yogurt or sherbet at all.
Although the juice can be questionable (added sugar?) its definitely a great snack item or meal replacement (get the 16 ounce please, the original size is way too much unless you’re starving).

I’ve tried several and finally settled down to my new favorite drink:
Pomegranate Paradise =) Its definitely different from my usual but the tangy taste it brings is pretty satisfying. The sweetness comes from the juice and fruit themselves which is great plus you’re getting a good variety of different fruits.

I haven’t tried their breakfast smoothies yet but its so similar to the ones I make myself that I won’t go out of my way right now.
