Hot weekend

23 06 2008

Went to visit my family this weekend in OC, freakin hot as hell but at least the ladies of OC dressed appropriately. Reason for visiting was my sister’s graduation from FIDM.For those of you that don’t know, Lauren from “The Hills” attends this school. Rumor was that she was graduating too, but nope, wasn’t on the list – she was my sister’s yr but kinda took breaks so that’s probably why. Anyways, graduation was at Staples Center (thats where the Lakers play) and it was pretty impressive. I thought I was seriously at a Fashion show – huge crowd, beats playing through the speakers, tons of lights and screens displaying their school stuff and a video being played showcasing their students and projects. What made it even crazier was that all the vendors were open so people could buy hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, etc. I mean, sure that would be normal if this were a game or show, but this was a graduation haha.

I slept through the boring parts (calling all 700 names one at a time) but one thing I thought was pretty cool that no other school would do was that a ton of students (obviously mostly girls) altered their black robes into some type of dress. I’m not talking about cutting off the sleeves or cutting the bottom into a skirt, I’m saying “dresses.” Guess you cant really expect less from fashion students.

Got to see my friends this weekend too – all the ones I’ve kept in touch with from High School. Can’t believe we went to SD to eat, but damn that place was good. Its called Tony’s Jacal in El Segundo, probably the best mexican food i’ve had in socal. I’d have to compare that to my place here in sf (Celia’s). Its always good catching up with them coz its never really awkward. We catch up quick and continue along just as we hung out in hs. I think its because our personalities haven’t changed much so we still know each other pretty well. I’m glad i still have them, otherwise i’d probably be stuck at home playing games, which isn’t really a bad thing except i can do that when i get back, which i did haha.

Playing WOW again. Yup, the worst time sink I’ve ever encountered in my life that doesn’t exactly benefit me except to say, “Yup, I’m a level 70.” Still, can’t complain really. Why? Because I love the MMO genre, the whole group interaction while playing the same game and doing the same stuff. People do this all the time in Facebook and its addicting. Of course, my career goal is to work at a game industry as well, and even more precisely, an MMO company. Or Lucasarts or Nintendo -  I’m totally game for those companies too.

I read my google reader daily and so I’m always updated with news articles from gaming websites I visit and thats what kind of got me back into the game really. SO much stuff will be happening with the new expansion that I decided to take my shaman to 70. No more of ‘oh i’ll try him out,’ or ‘i dont know who to level.’ I saw some alpha leaks, read the forums, play tested almost every class and finally decided that my main character from now on will be him. A shaman represents a hybrid or the “Jack of all trades” class. Which appeals to me since that has been the way I’m portrayed in real life. I wanted to do a lot of stuff and be wanted for groups and yet be fun and different. Can’t do that on the rogue so I finally made the switch and I’m lovin every bit of it. I play a couple of hours each nite when i’m done dancing or working out or back from chillin at lyn’s place and I’m really experiencing more now what the game is offering than before. I think I’m starting to look at things differently because of all the research I’ve been doing the past month. Anywhoo, enough talk about wow. I’ll just post a pic once Joeywheeler is 70.

New hairdo?

6 02 2008

after 8 years of cutting my own hair, i took the advice of my fellow jedi council and decided to let a hair stylist do his thang. I just dont want to come out of the salon and say, damn, i just spent 60 bucks on something i could have done myself! i mean, thats a whole game right there! or even 4 months of wow!

we shall see the outcome this saturday

EDIT: I’ve had this cut for a while now and I like it. Honestly its pretty close to how it was but its cleaner, and it can grow out nicer. Also the stylist was able to show me different ways to style my hair (FO Hawk anyone?) Plus I can always go back to the original look for work and stuff. GG!

vacation time

3 01 2008

Had tons of stuff planned for my vacation and i think i did everything on the list. Went to Zachary’s for the first time, awesome pizza, saw kev miller, the last hope for us socal kids and hes up here now too. Honestly, all of us from PCE that were from Socal are up in the bay now. weird.

Had fenton’s ice cream. Ice cream makes me happy. If anyone needed a gift idea for mike bristol, give me ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s is good.

Grandma’s Boy, Fake Boobs, and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Mama’s birthday

Last week I was home for Mama’s 85th birthday which I was able to celebrate w/ Lyn and all of my cousins. I was my Mama’s photographer for the day so I made sure to take her picture every chance I could get. She loves taking pictures, probably more so than the average Filipino (and that’s saying a lot).

I got to see my godson too, I knew I had to give him some money or something but Lyn thought it would be a better idea to get him a toy, after all, I hated money when I was a kid, you couldn’t play with it and kids don’t know the concept of money – except that you’re supposed to save it, boring. So I got him a lightsaber, duuh. I’ll probably do that for my future kid, want to make sure the force runs in the family =)

Mama’s bday was a success, she told me she wasn’t looking forward to it coz she feels way too old but im sure all of the cards and gifts she got made her change her mind.  Oh, and playing wii w/ everyone was awesome too. WarioWare was dope.

Thanksgiving week

I rarely see my friends from High School when I’m home. Usually I’d give Karen a call and she’d be cool and set something up w/ a few of us to eat or go out or something. But there are those super rare times I’ll see someone out of the blue while in town. Usually I see my friend Hemali in the mall or see someone from High School I knew of but never really talked to (that’s not saying much coz I didn’t really make too many friends in high school). Anyways, saw my friend Lyn w/ her bf and family. Good to know she’s doing well, she’ll be my doctor someday. (and Karen will be my lawyer, Jodie my optometrist, Julie will do my taxes.. I think im set)

What else did I do this week? Hmm, play video games. Haha. I’ve gotten pretty hardcore into gaming recently, playing games from every console and pc. You could say this could help me get that job I want in the games industry, just a little. I think on Saturday all I did was rotate from my TV to my PC to my DS. That rotation worked pretty well – I think I’ll do that when im back home for Christmas.

Day After Thanksgiving -  nothing much this year for me. Last year Lyn and I raped the Puma outlet. This time, not so much. I kinda just rode passenger seat w/ my sis the whole day while she got stuff like AppleCare, Boots, USB drive, and DVDs. Oh yea, i saw lots of fake boobs at the mall. Pretty cool, its funny how they just flaunt them w/ their small shirts and stuff. Only thing I got was the first volume of Y the last man, Goonies DVD, and South Park season 10. I swear  I wasn’t going to buy anything this time (gotta save for that house!) but the DVDs were crazy cheap, 5$ for Goonies, and South Park was only 15, and it has the WOW ep so that was a good buy. “Y The Last Man” is another story – I’ve gotten into graphic novels these past few months and this was a good recommendation from a coworker. I’ll talk about it more when the rest of the series gets shipped =)

Justin Timberlake Concert

24 09 2007

Went to the Justin Timberlake Concert last nite.. oh yea, Sexy Back! haha. it was fun, honestly. I went w/ Lyn and her sisters at the San Jose show to see JT and all his teeny bopper fans screaming for him. Tell me why out of the the whole section, we had to sit behind these big girls w/ their “I love JT” shirts screaming and dancing around every chance they get. They even stood up like 80% of the time while everyone else sat down. The best part was when Steve tapped one of the girls and told her to sit. Awesome.  I mean, yea its ok if Justin told people to get up, fine, i get that, but if everyone behind you is sitting and there barely isnt anything going on on stage, please sit down so we can see.

oh yea, it was crazy seeing justin do these little things that made girls wet their pants, seriously. He’ll just say stuff like “Ho!” “Let me hear you scream!” and start doing pelvic thrusts. Now, if i went somewhere like the mall and started yelling at girls, Ho! let me hear you scream! (doing pelvic thrusts ), i definitely wouldn’t get the same reaction. Well, i’ll probably get screams, but not the way i’d imagine it.  anyways, good times.. Beyonce was definitely better but i was still entertained. Next concert i hope could be alicia keys =)

more on justin’s dancing

Yosemite Trip 2007

30 07 2007

Definitely one of the best trips I’ve had in a looong time. The whole trip consisted of hiking, sightseeing, horseback riding, camping, swimming in the lake, drinking from the lake, ghost stories over the campfire, and really roughing it out there in the outdoors. My usual camping trips with the fam usually consist of having electrical outlets and a water faucet and shower nearby haha. I posted a few pictures to get the general idea out there.

Beautiful pic of Mono Lake at Yosemite

Thats me, i thought the pic was cool

Here’s a close up of Poncho, hehe, he’s an awesome horsie

IMG_1615

Last nite in Yosemite, here’s lyn on top of tallest mountain in the area, the view was amazing, we could see the Ranch from here

Our final horse ride back

IMG_1692

Lots of people on the trip learned a lot about themselves. Im not too sure what i learned myself . I knew i’d be able to ride a horse, but maybe not like this where it was around mountains. Roughing it out was fine, my dad told me stories so many times that i figured it wouldnt be too bad. Maybe i was surprised to find myself relaxed so easily around the people. It did help that some talked about video games haha but that i was able to use my knowledge from work/dance/college to really give others different perspectives on their own situations.

Finally i get to see some sun again

24 07 2007

It was really fun to be back in the OC. It was weird tho, didn’t feel like home, just felt good to be there if that makes any sense at all. Saw the parents and sis which is always good, my old room and toys i left long ago too. Lyn and i ended up eating at this sushi place called “You and I” Mental note to myself to yelp it. I posted some pix below to show off the food. Oh yea, it was all you can eat sushi..yummm!

Their “crunch roll”

Pretty good place, but of course its just not as good as Yamatos/Shins back in SLO. Lyn and I have yet to find one better…

Check it out! a hyphy store in Irvine Spectrum…seriously weird, why would they sell Norcal trendy clothing in socal…must be the bay area people going to school in UCI or something.
IMG_1374

Mmmm, candy apple from the chocolate factory store at the spectrum. ended up getting 3 more for my awesome coworkers

IMG_1376

IMG_1380

Lyn and I with my hometown friends, Susie why are you so sad??

IMG_1381

There we go, much better! haha

IMG_1382

Of course, the regular stop by the Puma Outlet. I told myself i wasnt going to buy more than 1 or 2 items but they had the buy 1 get 1 half off sale and i saw Evisu Jeans! I mean, come on, they never have em in the outlet for sale. So of course i bought myself a pair as well as Lyn..ended up buying shoes and a shirt as well since the sale was just too good to pass up. Now i just need the lighter blue version of the pants and my collection will be complete, until i want more of course. thats whats so bad about stuff i buy, i always want more..good thing i have my bank account automatically transfer a good portion of my paycheck twice a month.

Evisu at the outlet

And now off to read Harry Potter! Will i finish tonite? ha, we shall see
